Tuesday 17th September – Archway With Words Book Festival.
Come along to hear tales of Islington women, real and imagined and their counterparts south of the river. Meet explorer Mary Kingsley, a punk going to see the Sex Pistols, a suffragette in prison, Charlotte Despard, Price’s Candles factory workers, lady cyclists and more.
Following our set, Debra Watson will perform poetry from her collection ‘Laments & Incantations’ (2019), with musical accompaniment by Finnish musician, Henni Linnea. And Mary Dickins will perform poems from her debut poetry pamphlet, forthcoming from Burning Eye Books in 2020.

Our reading took place in the Sales and Marketing Suite under Grosvenor Railway Bridge, against a backdrop depicting how the site will look once development is complete. We’re grateful to Battersea Power Station for hosting the event.

For Feminist Book Fortnight we read from and discussed our collection London Undercurrents at this lovely independent bookshop in Islington. There’s a café/bar too, serving artisan gin, craft beer, wine, soft drinks and excellent coffee. A very convivial evening!

Upstairs at The Sun Pub, 21 Drury Lane, Covent Garden, WC2B 5RH. We read from our London Undercurrents collection in the first half, and in the second half we both read from our individual work. Supportive audience and great open mic readers as ever!
